CAUTION! TIPS TO HACK
PRODUCTIVITY
Maybe it sounds cliché if dancing,
singing, drawing, or acting is something you are good at because they are
talents and we considered them as a gift which makes us different from each
other. But here, I will share something that I am surely proud of because only few
people have this kind of ability and this is, “HOW TO MANAGE TIME.”
Here, I will give you simple tips
on how will you manage time based on my own routine as a student.
TIP
#1: KNOW YOUR LEARNING STYLE
It is important to know that there are many different
styles of learning and each person will retain information better in different
ways. It will also help you determine how to study, where to study, when to
study and other important factors like what study aids you should use and be
aware of, and knowing what things may distract you while you are trying to
study.
So, my learning
styles are Visual, I use images, pictures or colors to help me learn, Auditory,
I use sound, rhyme and music in learning or when creating mnemonics I make the
most of rhythm and rhyme and Solitary wherein, I prefer to study alone
using self-study and I align my goals and objectives with personal beliefs and
values.
The first stage of improving your time management is
to list absolutely everything that you have
to do. This may sound obvious, but speaking of experience, most students
tend to leave important task until the last minute, which can impact the
quality of their work and their overall grade.
TIP
#3: AVOID PROCRASTINATION AND DISTRACTION
Among the tips I’ve given to you, this might be the
hardest thing to do, but for me, this is easy to do when you put your mind to
it.
Ø Of course, stick with your to-do list,
then, as you work through your day, check off each of
the items on your list. You will feel a growing sense of pride as you visually
monitor your ever-diminishing list of projects.
Ø
When you have a looming project that’s bogging you
down and making you unproductive in other areas, tackle it first. Finishing the largest item on your list of things to do will
make you feel extra productive and give you the boost to do other things you’ve
been pushing to the side.
Ø
To remove distractions, HIDE YOUR TEMPTATIONS! (Books,
your guitar, you cellphone, internet surfing, whatever it may be).
ü
TIP #4: Lastly,
MOTIVATE YOURSELF
Many people claim the reason
they procrastinate is because they work best under pressure. So what do you do
if your projects don’t have any deadlines? Make your own. Set a time that you
must complete your project by, and either reward yourself at the end of that
time, or set up a punishment for yourself if you aren’t successful in your
endeavor.
Ø Positive reinforcement is the most effective means of
motivating yourself. Give yourself a treat to look forward to as a reward for
buckling down on your to-do list; go see a movie, eat a chocolate bar, go out
with a friend, whatever it is that will motivate you.
Ø If reinforcement isn’t working for you, use punishment as a
motivator. Use negative punishment - taking away something good - to try to
work harder. Don’t let yourself take that nap, eat your dinner, or finish your
favorite book until your tasks have been done.
No matter what style do we have
in managing our own time is something that we must respect of because we cannot
force a person to ask them or tell them what they should do with their time,
just like what I’ve said on TIP #1, we are different from each other. But the
thing is, we all have something in common and that is, we all have roles to
perform and we have responsibilities in life (Like me, as a student) that are
intended to work on to achieve our goals in life.
