How to write a good song

  • I would like to share everyone whom I think (I just think) is interested enough in writing a song but finds some difficulties on the process. Personally talking, I admit the songs I wrote was nothing nearly perfect but as the thought indicates, a person gives great advice on something they're not even good in solving at. Well why do I write this? It's because these are the things I'd like myself to do but unfortunately, i'm just that inevitable. So here it goes... first find an inspiration. A good song would be something you are really into. Things will go on really well if you know what to write about. Inspiration is on top of the list for it serves as the foundation of the song you are writing. Second, be poetic, use figurative language. Don't just say what you mean directly or else, the song would be just like any song. Plus, you don't need unfamiliar words to make a song good. You just have to organize words that fit together in a way that it would be artistically comprehensive. Next is applying the appropriate tune to the emotion you would like to emphasize on a certain part of your song. You wouldn't want it to sound like Don't Cry for Me Argentina if you are writing a song like Focus right? And I believe you don't have to be very good in a certain kind of instrument to be able to write a good song. I can play guitar and piano but i'm not really good at it. I just know how. Going back on the first so called "advice" of this blog, inspiration will play a huge part on the tune of the song because it will project how you really feel about the idea in your song. You can ask help to a friend who is more knowledgeable when it comes to instrument to put the tune you're into proper notes they fit. Fourth would be, be certain on the kind of song you are into, if it's like narrative, have a good ending that corresponds in the beginning; if it's describing something or you are expressing an emotion towards someone or anything, clarify your emotions and make use of good verbs. For the fifth and last advice for writing a good song, you should love your own style of writing but be open for suggestions and criticism, not everyone feels the same way like you, not everyone see something like you do, and there would be people who would even think everything you wrote is impossible but at the end of the day, the song you wrote was about you and your thoughts, you should not feel bad about it (NEVER) because what you just did was amazing. You deserve a round of applause for that (insert clapping hands emoticon here). What's important is that you were able to say what you wanna say, express what you wanted and even made an art out of it.
