Performance Level of Performing

We are going to perform our biggest performance in the subject Speech and Stage Arts. We already have our script, our venue, our performance date, our committees, and most of all, our actors. Performing on stage is a great experience yet a crucial one. The stage design matters, the costumes matter, but  most of all is the stage performance itself. We can perform well without the stage design. We can perform well without the costumes. We can still perform well without make-ups. But we can't perform well without performing in the highest performance level. Whether we have done so well with our props, stage design, costumes and make-ups, if our actors can't portray well the character they are to portray, then the performance is non-sense. So, to have a complete package performance, we need to consider the following things:

First, know the whole story.
To perform well of the said performance, the actors/actresses must know the whole story and how the story goes. This is to avoid wasting of time during practices.

Second, know all the characters.
The actors/actresses must be oriented of who the other characters are.

Third, know who your character is.
If the actors/actresses know who their character is, they can do well in portraying the character and they can easily find a way on how to internalize well. The actors/actresses must know what are the characteristics of the characters assigned to them.

Fourth, internalize your role.
To internalize character properly is the best way to be assured that the actors/actresses can perform well in the event. They should know the strengths and weaknesses of their role.

Fifth, work on with your intensity.
The role an actor/actress needs to portray should be portrayed dynamically. If the director is asking for an intense scene, a dramatic scene, a joyful scene or whatever scene he/she asks, they must do so.

Sixth, practice your delivery.
The actors/actresses must deliver their lines as how they want their characters  be portrayed so the audience will really see what the actors/actresses want to express.

Seventh, practice, practice, practice.
Always read the script. Always practice in front of a mirror so the actors will not be uncomfortable to express because they are well trained.

Eight, perform, perform, perform.
The actors/actresses must always bear in mind that THE SHOW MUST GO ON WHATEVER IT TAKES or WHATEVER HAPPENS. They just need to enjoy performing in performance level so the audience will also enjoy watching.

I hope this can help. :)
